As floods continue to affect large parts of Assam, the Gorkha Development Council (Assam) has intensified relief efforts across the upper Assam districts of Charaideo, Sivasagar and Jorhat. Led by Chairman Prem Tamang, the Council has been distributing relief materials, visiting affected areas and supporting families displaced by the floods caused by the Brahmaputra and its tributaries. Thousands of families in Charaideo, Sivasagar and Jorhat have been forced to leave their homes. Many are staying in relief camps or remain stranded in floodwaters.
