Truecaller has launched Truecaller Lite in India, a lightweight Android application designed to provide caller identification and spam blocking on smartphones with limited storage and memory. At approximately 10 MB, the app is designed to run smoothly on devices with up to 4GB of RAM.
The launch comes ahead of the festive season, when fraudulent delivery calls, fake offers and KYC scams can pose risks to consumers. Truecaller said the Lite version uses the same database and detection systems as its main application, offering comparable protection against spam and fraudulent calls. The company identified more than 68 billion spam and fraud calls globally in 2025.
The app includes caller ID, spam and fraud call blocking, call history, contacts, number search and after-call screens. It excludes features such as messaging, voicemail, family protection and AI assistants to keep the application lightweight.
Truecaller CEO Rishit Jhunjhunwala said the app was developed for users whose older or basic Android smartphones struggle with larger applications, adding that security should not depend on the device a person owns.
For Guwahati, the launch could benefit users seeking affordable, lightweight digital security, particularly those using entry-level smartphones for digital payments, online shopping and delivery services during the festive season.
Truecaller Lite is available free on the Google Play Store and is being rolled out gradually to compatible Android devices across India.
