Turkish Airlines revamps India routes menu with local flavours

Turkish Airlines has introduced a refreshed Economy Class catering service for Indian travellers, bringing locally curated menus onboard its Mumbai and Delhi flights from February 1, 2026. The move, part of the airline’s “OneTeam Passionately Turkish” initiative, aims to enhance passenger experience by blending Turkish hospitality with Indian culinary preferences. The airline said the new menus have been developed in collaboration with specialty chefs known for their expertise in regional cuisine. The outbound menu from India includes hot breakfast options such as omelette with tandoori paneer, chana masala with garlic spinach and poori, and banana pancakes. These are complemented by starters like süzme yoghurt with honey and dried fruits, cheeses, olives, fresh vegetables, and a mix of pita and naan bread.

For inbound journeys, passengers can choose from dishes including butter chicken with basmati rice, dal makhani with spiced vegetables, curry five-spiced broccolini, and rigatoni. The meal service is paired with starters such as Shepherd’s salad, white chocolate mousse, cheese, butter, and bread selections.

Expanding its services further, Turkish Airlines has widened eligibility for its Stopover in Istanbul programme, offering complimentary hotel stays—one night in a 4-star hotel for Economy Class and two nights in a 5-star hotel for Business Class passengers. Travellers with layovers between 6 and 24 hours can also access the Touristanbul programme, which includes guided city tours covering landmarks like the Blue Mosque and Grand Bazaar. In Kolkata, the introduction of locally tailored menus could strengthen Turkish Airlines’ appeal among eastern India passengers, especially as international travel demand continues to rise. Enhanced onboard experience combined with stopover benefits is expected to attract more flyers from the region seeking value-added long-haul connectivity.
