Yamaha makes global debut of YZF-R2 in India at Rs 2.30 lakh

India Yamaha Motor on Thursday unveiled the all-new YZF-R2 in India, marking the global debut of the company’s latest supersport motorcycle and its entry into the competitive 200cc segment. Priced from Rs 2,30,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi), the YZF-R2 will be offered in three variants and five colour options. The range includes the standard YZF-R2 at Rs 2,30,500, the Quick Shifter variant at Rs 2,39,500 and the range-topping YZF-R2M at Rs 2,53,000.

The motorcycle is powered by a newly developed 204cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine producing 26.5 PS and 19.1 Nm of peak torque. Yamaha said the motorcycle has a kerb weight of 149 kg, making it the lightest in its segment.Key features include a 5-inch full-colour TFT display, traction control, assist and slipper clutch, three riding modes, 37 mm USD front forks and dual-channel ABS. The higher variants also receive a bi-directional quick shifter, while the R2M gets adjustable suspension and other premium components.

The YZF-R2 will be available in Metallic Black, Dark Bluish Gray, Matte White Pearl, Racing Blue and Metallic Gray.Yamaha said the motorcycle will reach Blue Square dealerships across India from mid-September 2026. Chairman Hajime Aota said the launch marks a significant milestone in Yamaha’s growth strategy and reflects the company’s focus on expanding its premium motorcycle portfolio in India.
