Mahindra & Mahindra has clocked an impressive 20 per cent year-on-year growth for May 2026, with total vehicle sales hitting 99,636 units, including exports. The stellar performance highlights sustained demand across both the automotive and agricultural sectors, cementing M&M’s strong market momentum.
The utility vehicle segment remained a major growth engine. Mahindra recorded domestic SUV sales of 58,021 units, marking an 11 per cent increase from the previous year. Total utility vehicle sales, factoring in exports, reached 59,573 units. Commenting on the performance, Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO of M&M’s Automotive Division, noted that while portfolio demand remains robust, overall production faced slight constraints due to manpower shortages at select suppliers. Meanwhile, the commercial vehicle segment also flexed its muscles, with domestic sales jumping 19 per cent to 24,079 units.
Mahindra’s farm equipment business stole the spotlight this month, posting a massive 23 per cent surge in domestic tractor sales. The company sold 47,845 tractors locally, up significantly from the 38,914 units recorded in May 2025. Total tractor sales, including 1,850 exported units, culminated at 49,695 vehicles. Veejay Nakra, President of the Farm Equipment Business, attributed this aggressive growth to the timely completion of the Rabi harvest and highly favourable terms of trade for the farming community.
Overall, the May data underscores Mahindra & Mahindra’s resilient manufacturing and sales strategy, successfully navigating localized supply chain challenges to deliver strong, double-digit growth across its primary automotive and agricultural portfolios.
