A primary concern raised during the visit was the inadequate reservation quota assigned to Nagaland passengers on key trains passing through Dimapur Railway Station, such as the Shatabdi and Nagaland Special. Jamir argued that despite generating substantial revenue for the Indian Railways, local travelers are frequently forced to book tickets from neighboring states due to severe quota limitations—an issue he promised to raise directly with the Railway Ministry and in Parliament during the upcoming winter session. Turning to broader railway development, the MP highlighted how internal land acquisition hurdles have stalled major initiatives, including the full-scale modernization of Dimapur Railway Station, leaving contractors to work in a piecemeal fashion as land becomes available. He urged the state government to resolve these land disputes promptly while dismissing weather and difficult terrain as valid justifications for chronic project delays, asserting that proper Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) should account for predictable regional conditions.
