Narayana RN Tagore Hospital expands cardiac electrophysiology services to Siliguri

Narayana RN Tagore Hospital, Kolkata, has launched comprehensive Cardiac Electrophysiology (EP) services at Maxwell Hospital & Research Centre in Siliguri, bringing advanced diagnosis and treatment for cardiac rhythm disorders closer to patients in North Bengal, Sikkim and neighbouring regions. The initiative extends the hospital’s decade-long expertise in cardiac electrophysiology from its Mukundapur facility in Kolkata and aims to improve access to specialised care for patients suffering from irregular heart rhythms. The new unit will offer fast-track diagnosis, risk stratification and early intervention under the guidance of super-specialist cardiac electrophysiologists.

The facility is equipped to diagnose and treat a range of heart rhythm disorders, including supraventricular tachycardia, atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, slow heart rhythms and syncope. Services include ECG, treadmill testing, echocardiography, Holter monitoring, genetic counselling, radiofrequency ablation (RFA), pacemaker implantation, AICD and CRT therapies, along with advanced pulse field ablation procedures. Dr Debabrata Bera, Senior Consultant – Cardiac Electrophysiology at Narayana RN Tagore Hospital, said many cardiac electrophysiology disorders are curable when diagnosed early and do not always require lifelong medication. He said the new facility would bring expert care and timely treatment closer to patients’ homes.

In Gangtok, the expansion is expected to significantly benefit patients from Sikkim, who often travel to larger cities for specialised cardiac care. Healthcare experts believe easier access to advanced electrophysiology services in nearby Siliguri could reduce treatment delays, lower travel expenses and strengthen the region’s healthcare ecosystem while improving patient outcomes. Mr R. Venkatesh, Group COO of Narayana Health, said the initiative would ensure quality cardiac electrophysiology care reaches more patients across North Bengal. Mr Abhijit CP, Director of Narayana RN Tagore Hospital and Corporate Growth Initiatives, said the hospital aims to establish Siliguri as a regional hub for comprehensive electrophysiology care with a focus on innovation, prevention and affordability.
