Tata Motors has unveiled its widest-ever commercial vehicle portfolio at a showcase event in Cape Town, highlighting its growing focus on advanced mobility solutions and electric vehicle technologies for international markets. The company displayed 11 commercial vehicles across multiple segments and powertrain options, including electric trucks, pickups and passenger mobility solutions. Key launches included the all-new Ultra Prime RE rear-engine intra-city bus and the Azura range of next-generation intermediate and light-duty trucks aimed at regional and inter-city transport operations.
Speaking at the event, Asif Shamim, Head of International Business at Tata Motors, said the showcase reflected the company’s emphasis on “application-led mobility solutions” tailored for varied operating conditions. He added that the portfolio demonstrates Tata Motors’ engineering strength in developing practical, reliable and productivity-focused commercial vehicles.
The company also highlighted its strong African footprint, operating in 29 countries across Sub-Saharan Africa with over 3.4 lakh commercial vehicles sold in the region. Tata Motors currently offers more than 60 models backed by over 320 service touchpoints and seven assembly operations across countries including South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria and Egypt.
The showcase featured electric models such as Ace Pro EV, Intra EV, Ultra E.9 and Prima E28.K, alongside passenger buses including LPO 1618 Magna and LPO 1623 Nova. Tata Motors also underlined its customer-centric support through extended warranty programmes and annual maintenance contracts.
In Kolkata, automobile dealers and logistics operators are closely tracking Tata Motors’ expanding electric and commercial vehicle portfolio as demand for cleaner transport and efficient cargo mobility rises in eastern India. Industry players believe electric pickups and light-duty trucks showcased by the company could see increasing relevance in the Kolkata market, particularly for urban logistics, e-commerce delivery and intra-city transport operations.
