The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially cancelled the NEET-UG 2026 examination which was held on 3rd May due to serious allegations of paper leak with the approval of Government of India. The decision, made on May 12, 2026, is meant to preserve the sanctity of the medical entrance process after inputs from central agencies and the Rajasthan Police Special Operations Group (SOG) indicated that the ‘sanctity’ of the examination had been compromised.
Investigators first homed in on a “guess paper,” with some 410 questions that allegedly circulated up to a month before the test. Reports indicate that about 120 questions in the Chemistry section, totalling 600 marks, were similar to the actual paper. It is said that the leak originated from a medical student in Kerala and then spread through coaching hubs in Rajasthan, such as Sikar and Jaipur. Some documents reportedly were sold for prices between ₹30,000 and ₹5 lakh.
The Union Education Ministry has referred the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a fair and transparent investigation. Protests have already erupted across the country, with students and parents demanding accountability for the lapse. The NTA has announced that the candidates will have to appear for a fresh examination and the revised schedule will be released shortly on the official website. Students affected are advised to stay focused and be alert to further misinformation as the agency works to restore the credibility of the national testing system.
