HPCL ramps up LPG supply network to tackle seasonal, festival demand surge

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited has activated a nationwide demand readiness strategy to ensure uninterrupted LPG supply amid rising seasonal and festival-related consumption across India. The company said it delivered more than 316 lakh LPG cylinders between April 1 and April 25, 2026, reflecting its preparedness to manage increasing demand linked to summer consumption, migration patterns and festive cycles. The company said it has strengthened its supply chain and logistics operations to anticipate demand spikes in advance through early stock positioning and streamlined distribution planning. HPCL dispatched more than 1,86,241 tankers during the period to maintain steady replenishment across its distribution network.

HPCL also reported growing demand for flexible energy solutions among migrant workers and temporary households. During the period, the company supplied over 6.83 lakh Free Trade LPG cylinders of 5 kg and more than 26,000 cylinders of 2 kg. The company said its digital ecosystem has played a key role in improving response time, with 99.2 per cent of LPG bookings now being made through digital platforms. This has enabled real-time demand tracking, faster deliveries and dynamic route planning.

In Guwahati, LPG distributors and dealers said demand generally rises during festival periods and seasonal shifts as urban households, migrant workers and small food businesses increase consumption. Industry observers believe HPCL’s strengthened supply and logistics network could help ensure stable cylinder availability across Guwahati and nearby Assam markets during peak demand periods. To prevent irregularities during high-demand cycles, HPCL conducted 6,000 inspections between March 14 and April 25. The company took action against 162 distributors, including 34 suspensions, carried out 664 raids, registered 44 FIRs and seized 4,155 LPG cylinders.
