Union Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani on Friday slammed Kejriwal government's new excise policy, saying it was shocking that liquor vends were opened near schools and religious places in Delhi. Ajanta, Ellora caves reopen with new protocols for the visitors

The world famous Ajanta and Ellora caves and various other monuments are reopened in Maharashtra on Wednesday after being shut for about three weeks due to the surge of COVID-19 cases.Visitors must purchase online tickets as no physical tickets will be available. Full vaccination is mandatory for visitors, the Archaeological Survey of India's (ASI) Aurangabad circle superintendent Dr Milan Kumar Chauley told PTI.The district administration has now allowed the monuments to reopen.

India reports 1.61 lakh Covid cases

Indian-Origin US Man charged For Sexually Abusing Teen

A 41-year-old Indian-origin man in the US has been sentenced to 15 months in prison for sexually abusing a minor boy in 2019. District Judge Nancy E. Brasel sentenced Neeraj Chopra, who is from Minneapolis, for engaging in sexual contact on an airplane during a flight from Boston to Minneapolis, according to a statement by the US Department of Justice. Death tolls to 227 fresh in Ladakh, post covid-19 situation

One person died of coronavirus in Ladakh, while 227 fresh cases pushed the overall virus tally in the Union Territory to 25,763.The new death was reported from Leh district.A total of 1,144 people were tested for COVID-19 in the twin districts and 227 of them returned positive. They included 134 in Leh and 93 in Kargil.There are 1,261 active cases with 854 in Leh and 407 in Kargil, according to the reports.

NCR’s Mathura-Palwal fourth line project completed

North Central Railways has completed its Mathura-Palwal fourth line project, sanctioned by the Railway Board in 2015-16. The project covers 668.7 crore.Rundhi-Sholaka, Sholaka-Hodal, and Hodal-Chhata sections were opened for traffic as both were commissioned subsequently.With the commissioning of the Chhata-Bhuteshwar section on Thursday, the project has been completed in a major thrust to mobility.According to the reports, with the commissioning of the fourth line, Agra Division of NCR now will have two lines at its disposal for improving the punctuality of trains.
