Akasa Air crosses 200 daily departures, expands Kolkata operations

Akasa Air, India’s fastest-growing airline, has expanded its network beyond 200 daily departures, increasing flight frequencies and adding new connections across major domestic and international markets.

Announcing the expansion on October 23, the airline said it had strengthened connectivity across key economic centres and emerging destinations. Anand Srinivasan, co-founder and chief commercial officer, said the strategy focused on disciplined growth, improved schedules, greater passenger choice and service excellence.

In Kolkata, Akasa Air has increased operations to 95 weekly departures, connecting the city non-stop to eight destinations. The airline has also established a crew base in Kolkata to support its expanding operations and strengthen its presence across eastern India.

From Delhi, the carrier operates 196 weekly departures connecting 14 cities, with additional frequencies to Mumbai, Bengaluru and Goa. It has also commenced daily direct services from Jaipur and Udaipur to Bengaluru and Mumbai, alongside Chandigarh–Bengaluru and Chandigarh–Goa flights.

In southern India, Bengaluru offers connectivity to 19 domestic and three international destinations: Abu Dhabi, Phuket and Jeddah. The airline has also expanded services across Kerala.

Akasa Air operates six daily Mumbai–Delhi flights, five daily Bengaluru–Delhi flights and two daily Delhi–Kolkata services, offering greater flexibility for business and leisure travellers.

The expansion strengthens Kolkata’s position as a regional aviation market, potentially supporting business travel, tourism and passenger movement across eastern India.
