Pramod Boro, president of the United Peoples' Party Liberal (UPPL), was elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha and will run for the assembly elections from the Tamulpur constituency. UPPL general secretary Raju Kumar Narzary announced the first list of seven candidates, stating that the party intends to contest all 15 constituencies within the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). A second candidate list will be released shortly. The UPPL is part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and competes primarily with the Bodoland People's Front (BPF) in the region.
