Assam Police has busted a cybercrime racket operating out of Azad Nagar in Barpeta Road, arresting eight accused in a coordinated operation led by the Crime Branch. According to officials, the accused were running a well-organized cyber fraud network from a rented accommodation. In the Khanapara area of Guwahati, a campaign was initiated by the state’s Handloom and Textiles Department to curb the sale of power loom made gamosas, referred to as "gummosis", due to complaints that business owners were misrepresenting machine produced gamosas as authentic handloom gamosas. On Sunday, a guy leaped from the recently opened Kumar Bhaskar Varma Setu in Guwahati. It is thought that he perished in the Brahmaputra River. Rabil Ali, a native of Keotkuchi village in the Barpeta district, has been identified as the man.
