Aditya Birla Education Trust’s Ujaas initiative is aiming to raise awareness about menstrual health and hygiene in Sikkim, covering cities of Soreng and Geyzing. The initiative, guided by Founder Ms. Advaitesha Birla, is collaborating with local NGO partner Bhavishya Bharat to reach adolescent girls and women through local schools, healthcare centers, government colleges, and local communities.
Ujaas and Bhavishya Bharat have partnered to launch a year-long campaign aimed at raising awareness and dismantling taboos around menstrual health and hygiene. The campaign includes age-appropriate awareness sessions and the distribution of sanitary napkins, with the goal of promoting positive conversations and dismantling taboos in the region. Ms. Advaitesha Birla, the Founder of Ujaas, expressed, “We have completed impactful educational workshops in multiple cities, and our presence in Sikkim marks another stride towards dispelling myths surrounding menstruation.” Further he said, “This program strives to encourage empowerment and transformation, paving the way for a more inclusive and enlightened future.”
‘Ujaas Menstrual Health Express’ the initiative, the first of its kind in India, will cover 25 states and 107 cities. The Menstrual Health Express Van will navigate diverse regions and communities, engaging with local NGOs to gain insights into the rich tapestry of cultures, practices, and beliefs surrounding menstruation. The campaign aims to distribute over 250,000 menstrual pads nationwide, reflecting Ujaas’ commitment to empowering women and creating a positive impact within communities
