Limca Book of Records Spotlights Indian Athletes’ Remarkable Feats on World Athletics Day

The Limca Book of Records is celebrating World Athletics Day by recognizing the remarkable achievements of athletes in its sports history. Since its inception, the Limca Book of Records has been a beacon of human aspiration and accomplishment, capturing the essence of unparalleled dedication and grit. Within its pages lie tales of remarkable feats, showcasing the rich history of talent across diverse athletic domains.

The Limca Book of Records showcases many incredible achievements of athletic, including Neeraj Chopra’s 2023 gold medal at the World Athletics Championship, where he threw 88.17 meters in the men’s javelin final, making him the first Indian to achieve this feat, Jyothi Yarraji’s gold in the women’s 100m hurdles at the Asian Athletics Championships in Bangkok, and Dutee Chand’s gold medal at the Universiade in 2019. Dutee Chand, an LGBTQ+ athlete, is a testament to inclusivity and resilience. Rambai, 105 years old, is India’s oldest gold medallist, winning gold in the 100m race at the National Open Masters Athletics Championships in Gujarat.

Anju Bobby George, India’s only medalist at the IAAF World Championships, is an icon in Indian athletics. Her long jump prowess has solidified her status as a role model. Recognized for her contributions, she was honored during the Malayalam edition of the Limca Book of Records in 2014, themed ‘Empowering Women’. The 33rd edition of Limca Book of Records upholds its themeof ‘India at her Best’. Ruchira Bhattacharya, Senior Director, Marketing for Hydration, Sports, and Tea at The Coca-Cola Company’s India and South-West Asia Operating Unit, remarked, “To celebrate the accomplishments of Indian Athletes and continue to build pride amongst audiences, we pay homage to their feats through the Limca book of Records.”
