Tata Motors has expanded its vehicle recycling network with the inauguration of a new Re.Wi.Re (Recycle With Respect) Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF) in Patna, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable mobility and the circular economy. Inaugurated by Bihar Transport Minister DamodarRawat, the facility is spread across 5.5 acres, operated by the KalahanuBothra Group, and can safely dismantle up to 15,000 end-of-life vehicles annually across all brands and segments, including two-wheelers, three-wheelers, passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles.
The minister said the facility supports the National Vehicle Scrappage Policy by enabling scientific disposal of old and unfit vehicles while encouraging owners to switch to cleaner, safer and more fuel-efficient models, thereby improving road safety and reducing emissions. Rajesh Kaul, Vice President and Business Head – Trucks, Tata Motors Ltd., said the Patna unit strengthens the company’s organised recycling ecosystem and expands its nationwide scrappage network, which can now responsibly dismantle nearly two lakh end-of-life vehicles annually under circular economy principles. The fully digitalised facility features paperless operations, cell-type dismantling for commercial vehicles, two- and three-wheelers, and line-type dismantling for passenger vehicles. Dedicated stations ensure the safe handling and disposal of tyres, batteries, fuel, oils, liquids and gases in compliance with the national vehicle scrappage policy.
In Kolkata, the expansion further strengthens Tata Motors’ presence in eastern India, complementing its existing Re.Wi.Re facility in Kolkata. The broader regional network is expected to improve access to authorised vehicle scrapping services, encourage replacement demand for newer commercial and passenger vehicles, support recycling and auto-component businesses, and contribute to the region’s transition towards a cleaner and more sustainable automotive ecosystem.
