Norton Motor cycles’ Manx R has won the Red Dot: Best of the Best award in the Cars and Motor cycles category at the 2026 Red Dot Award: Design Concept, rein forcing the British marque’s ambitions in the global luxury performance motor cycle market.
The recognition, awarded for ground breaking design, marks another milestone in Norton’s brand resurgence and follows the Manx R’s success at the 2026 International Design Excellence Awards. The accolades highlight the company’s focus on distinctive styling, premium detailing and emotional appeal as it seeks to strengthen its position in the high-end motor cycle segment.
Simon Skinner, Head of Design at Norton Motor cycles, said the award recognised the collective contribution of the team behind the Manx R. The motor cycle combines disciplined proportions, clean surfaces, a cohesive silhouette and sculptural mechanical elements. Inspired by fine watch making, its design also emphasises material quality, tactile controls and carefully integrated details.
The project was shaped with Professor Gerry Mc Govern OBE, Chief Creative Advisor to Norton, and developed by Skinner and the company’s in-house design and engineering teams around four principles: modernity, integration, drama and connection.
Norton is extending the same design approach to its global retail concept through a collaboration with Foster + Partners.
Founded in 1898, Norton was acquired by TVS Motor Company in April 2020. Its manufacturing facility in Solihull, West Midlands, combines traditional craftsmanship with modern engineering and quality standards. The latest award strengthens Norton’s design credentials as it pursues growth in the premium motor cycle market.
