Tata Motors Limited reported a 28 per cent year-on-year growth in commercial vehicle sales in April 2026, driven by strong demand across truck, passenger carrier, and cargo vehicle segments. The company said its total domestic and international sales stood at 34,833 units in April 2026, compared to 27,221 units in the same month last year. According to the company, domestic sales rose 27.9 per cent to 32,965 units, while international business sales increased 28.2 per cent to 1,868 units. Sales of heavy commercial vehicle (HCV) trucks grew 23.4 per cent to 8,969 units, while intermediate, light and medium commercial vehicle (ILMCV) truck sales climbed 16.5 per cent to 5,454 units. Passenger carrier sales also increased 22.6 per cent to 5,743 units during the month.
The company recorded its highest growth in the SCV cargo and pickup segment, where sales surged 40.2 per cent to 12,799 units. Domestic sales of medium and heavy commercial vehicles (MH&ICV) stood at 14,565 units in April 2026 against 12,093 units in April 2025.
In Kolkata, rising infrastructure activity, expanding logistics demand, and increased movement of goods in eastern India have boosted demand for commercial vehicles, especially small cargo and pickup vehicles used for regional transportation and last-mile delivery operations.
