Godrej Enterprises expands aero engine manufacturing push, bets big on aerospace growth

Mumbai-based Godrej Enterprises Group is strengthening India’s aero engine and aerospace manufacturing capabilities through advanced precision engineering and fresh investments aimed at boosting indigenous production. The company on Tuesday said it is the only private firm in India with the capability to manufacture all modules of an aero engine, supporting the country’s Atmanirbhar Bharat mission. The aerospace business of the group, established in the 1980s, currently works with major global aerospace companies including Boeing, Safran Aircraft Engines, GE Aerospace, Rolls-Royce and RTX. The company reported nearly 25 per cent year-on-year growth, while exports rose by more than 30 per cent, reflecting increasing participation in global aerospace supply chains.

Godrej Enterprises Group said it will invest around ₹100 crore over the next three years to strengthen design, research and development, advanced digital manufacturing, and new product development. The company is also expanding operations through a new aerospace manufacturing facility at Khalapur in Maharashtra spread across 100 acres. Business Head Maneck Behramkamdin said the company aims to deepen India’s aero engine ecosystem through innovation, strong engineering capability, and quality-driven manufacturing.

In Guwahati, the expansion of India’s aerospace manufacturing ecosystem could create opportunities for skilled engineering talent and component suppliers from the Northeast. Growing industrial connectivity and increased focus on advanced manufacturing are also expected to encourage more technical training and supply-chain participation from emerging markets such as Guwahati.
