Coke Studio Bharat revives forgotten war memories through ‘Kachaudi Gali’

Coke Studio Bharat has released the third track of its Season 4, titled Kachaudi Gali, a Bhojpuri folk-inspired composition that revisits the human cost of the First Anglo-Burmese War through the perspective of a woman separated from her husband. Set in the narrow lanes of Benaras, the song tells the story of a woman watching her husband being taken away by the British Army from Mirzapur to Rangoon during the war. The track highlights the emotional trauma faced by ordinary families whose stories remained absent from mainstream historical narratives.

The song features acclaimed singer Rekha Bhardwaj alongside Utpal Udit and Khwaab. While Rekha Bhardwaj brings emotional depth to the composition, Utpal Udit has focused on preserving the Bhojpuri folk texture in the production. Khwaab adds subtle layers of tension and grief throughout the track. Shantanu Gangane, IMX Lead at Coca-Cola India and Southwest Asia, said the platform aims to revive lost folk stories and regional cultures through contemporary collaborations.

The release follows earlier Season 4 tracks “Ae Ajnabee” and “Bulleya Ve,” continuing the platform’s effort to reinterpret regional narratives for modern audiences. In Kolkata, the growing popularity of regional storytelling and folk-inspired music among urban listeners is creating fresh opportunities for music streaming platforms and branded entertainment campaigns. Industry observers believe audiences in Kolkata are increasingly engaging with culturally rooted content, especially projects that ble nd heritage narratives with modern production styles.
