PM Modi and Assam CM unveils Lachit Barphukan statue

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrives here, Assam on Saturday and unveils statue of 16th century Ahom general Lachit Borphukan in Jorhat district. The PM was accompanied by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma both in Ahom attire. According to the sources, the statue is measured 125-feet long at the Lachit Barphukan Maidam Development Project in Hollongapar, which is close to Teok area in the district. Additionally, back in February 2022, former President Ram Nath Kovind had laid the statue’s foundation.
