Assam-Meghalaya Border meeting to be held on October 14

The first meeting of the Regional Committee for West Khasi Hill District will be held on October 14 under the leadership of the Minister for Public Health Engineering (PHE) – Renikton Lyngdoh Tonghar. Tonghar said that "We will consider the views and recommendations of the committee members and concerned stakeholders, who have a wealth of knowledge on border issues. We hope they will provide us with valuable input." Also, all traditional heads of 39 villages, who have expressed their desire to join Meghalaya, were also invited to the meeting.

Truck-hit Rhino is well, CM confirms

A rhinoceros that was hit by a truck on a highway in the Kaziranga National Park area recently is doing well, Assam CM confirms through a tweet. President of India, Murmu to visit Tripura & Assam

President Droupadi Murmu will be visiting Tripura and Assam to attend some specific programs on Wednesday. The President will be on three days visit, the statement was issued by Rashtrapati Bhavan. She will inaugurate the Tripura State Judicial Academy and lay the foundation stone of the Tripura National Law University at Narsinghgarh in Agartala On Wednesday. At IIT Guwahati on Thursday, the President will virtually inaugurate and lay foundation stones of various projects of the Union Ministries of Electronics and Information Technology and Health and Family Welfare and Government of Assam. New Chief Justice for High Court elevated

Justice P B Varale of the Bombay High Court was elevated as the Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court while Justice AM Magrey, a judge of the Jammu and Kashmir HC, was appointed its chief justice. "As per the Constitutional provisions, Justice Pankaj Mittal is transferred to Rajasthan as Chief Justice of Rajasthan HC, Justice PB Varale is appointed as Chief Justice of Karnataka HC & Justice AM Magrey as Chief Justice of J&K & Ladakh HC," Law Minister Kiren Rijiju tweeted. Rs 47 crore heroine seized in Assam

A joint team of BSF and Assam Police recovered the heroine worth Tk 47 crore from a truck in Karimganj. The heroin weighs around 9.47 kg and it is worth an estimated Rs 47.4 crore. The driver of the truck has been detained and is being questioned for further details, the official said.

Mahakal corridor project in MP

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the first phase of ‘Shri Mahakal Lok’ (corridor) in Ujjain city of Madhya Pradesh. The information came from state Home Minister Narottam Mishra. Also, about the project, the 'Mahakal Lok' corridor 900-meter long and built as one of the largest corridors in India, stretches around the old Rudrasagar lake which has been revived as part of the redevelopment project around the Mahakaleshwar which is too much famous. Lovlina Borgohain reaches boxing semis in National Games, 2022

Boxing competition at the Mahatma Mandir Complex, Olympic bronze medalist Lovlina Borgohain secured victory in the quarter-finals. Along with Lovlina, Commonwealth Games medalist duo Mohammad Hussamuddin and Jasmine Lamboria also secured themselves a medal each after recording a quarter-final win. Services continued their dominance on Sunday, taking their medal tally to 113 with 51 golds including top podium finishes in wushu, triathlon and canoeing and kayaking. Truck hits a rhino in Haldibari Animal Corridor in Assam

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma shared a video of a rhino being hit by a truck in Assam's Haldibari Animal Corridor. The Chief Minister wrote on Twitter, “Rhino is our special friend; We will not allow any infringement on their space” he said sharing the clip which is going viral on the internet with millions of views and shares. While sharing this clip, the Chief Minister wrote that the truck that hit the animal was impounded and fined. He also added that the government is working on a special 32 km elevated corridor that will prevent similar accidents.
