The first wave of monsoon floods has affected more than 22,000 people across six districts of Assam following continuous heavy rainfall in the state and neighbouring Arunachal Pradesh, according to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA). Official data released by ASDMA stated that 22,124 people have been affected in Dhemaji, Nalbari, Dibrugarh, Chirang, Lakhimpur and Kokrajhar districts. Among them, Dhemaji remains the worst-hit district, with 15,483 people affected by rising floodwaters. Two suspected cadres of the banned Ulfa-I were apprehended by police in Jagun town of Tinsukia district.They have been identified as Chiyan Asom and Manoj Asom.Police intercepted the duo after they entered Assam via Jairampur in Arunachal Pradesh from Myanmar in a Maruti Swift.Based on specific intelligence inputs regarding their movement, Assam Police laid a trap and apprehended them at Jagun Bazaar.During the operation, police reportedly recovered two AK-56 assault rifles, six magazines and grenades from their possession.The arrested cadres have been taken to Tinsukia for further interrogation and investigation.

Assam Police seized 1.557 kg of suspected Yaba tablets worth an estimated Rs 2.4 crore during an anti-narcotics operation in Sribhumi district in the early hours of Friday, officials said. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a team from RK Nagar Police Station intercepted the consignment before it could be distributed. One person was apprehended during the operation. Adani Airport City Limited (AACL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), has unveiled an ambitious plan to develop integrated airport cities across six airports in India, with an investment of more than ₹20,000 crore in the first phase. The project will transform airports into integrated urban hubs featuring hotels, retail spaces, entertainment centres, business districts, convention facilities and commercial infrastructure.
