Music fans travelling to Assam for major concerts are doing more than enjoying live performances—they are helping drive tourism, local businesses and economic growth, according to a new report released by BookMyShow, Assam Tourism Development Corporation Ltd. (ATDC) and EY-Parthenon.The report, *The Assam Blueprint: Turning Live Music Economy into a Tourism Multiplier*, estimates that Assam’s live entertainment ecosystem could generate more than ₹700 crore in cumulative economic impact over the next five years through a steady pipeline of marquee events.
The study highlights Post Malone’s first-ever India solo headline concert in Guwahati in December 2025, which generated an estimated ₹43 crore in economic impact. The event attracted over 20,000 attendees, with 53 per cent travelling from outside Guwahati and coming from more than 200 cities and towns across the country. For consumers, the concert became more than a music experience. Visitors spent on hotels, flights, local transport, restaurants, shopping and sightseeing. According to the report, every ₹100 spent on a concert ticket resulted in an additional ₹899 being spent on accommodation, travel, dining and local services.Hotels recorded around 30 per cent higher occupancy during the concert weekend, transport operators saw ride demand rise by over 50 per cent, while restaurants, cafés and retail outlets reported strong increases in customer traffic. Many visitors also explored destinations such as Kaziranga National Park, Majuli Island, Kamakhya Temple and Sivasagar.
The report noted that Guwahati witnessed a 188 per cent increase in live-event footfalls in 2025 and hosted 55 ticketed events. Around 2,500 personnel were engaged across security, hospitality, logistics and production, while local vendors supported infrastructure, branding and event operations. With Assam’s Concert Tourism Policy, infrastructure investments and ATDC’s single-window facilitation supporting the sector, the state is positioning itself as a major destination for live entertainment. The momentum is expected to continue with legendary rock band Guns N’ Roses set to perform in Guwahati on November 17, 2026.
