Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu has dismissed reports alleging delays in the release of fee waiver reimbursements to colleges, stating that the claims are false, misleading and not substantiated by facts.
“Reports alleging that fee waiver reimbursement has not been released to colleges are completely false, misleading and without any factual basis,” Pegu stated on social media.
The Minister further informed that the State government has already released Rs 204.94 crore towards reimbursement under the Fee Waiver Scheme for the academic year 2025–26.
“Similarly, the reimbursement due for 2024–25 was also released to the concerned institutions,” he stated.
“A balance amount of Rs 30.00 crore remains to be released, which will be disbursed immediately after the conclusion of the Budget Session of the Assam Legislative Assembly,” Pegu informed.
“The Government remains fully committed to the successful implementation of the Fee Waiver Scheme and to ensuring that no eligible student is deprived of higher education on account of financial constraints,” he said.
