Assam Governor ACS officer trainees to uphold commitment to public service

Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya on Friday interacted with 44 Assam Civil Service (ACS) Officer Trainees of 2026 batch at Lok Bhavan, Guwahati and called upon them to uphold the highest standards of integrity, compassion and commitment to public service.
Welcoming the officer trainees, the Governor congratulated them on joining the Assam Civil Services and described their appointment as both an honour and a solemn responsibility. He said that civil servants serve as the vital link between the ideals of the Constitution and their effective implementation, and urged them to ensure that the benefits of development reach every section of society, particularly the poor, the vulnerable and those living in remote areas.
Emphasising that public service is an opportunity to bring meaningful change to people’s lives, the Governor advised the trainees to discharge their duties with honesty, empathy, transparency and accountability. He encouraged them to remain lifelong learners, embrace innovation and technology in governance, and always keep the welfare of the people at the centre of their decisions.
Drawing inspiration from exemplary civil servants such as S. R. Sankaran and others  the Governor urged the trainees to imbibe their values of integrity, courage and dedication to public welfare. Referring to Assam’s rapid developmental journey, the Governor said that the young officers have the opportunity to contribute significantly to the State’s progress and nation-building. He urged them to be guided by the Constitution, the rule of law and their conscience in every decision they make.
Commissioner and Secretary to the Governor S.S.Meenakshi Sundaram, Joint Director Assam Administrative Staff College (AASC), Training, Dimple Barua, Joint director AASC Sangeeta Devi along with officers of Lok Bhavan and AASC were present at the interactive session.
