AIIMS Guwahati to host Khelo India Dialogue on Aug 27

AIIMS Guwahati is hosting the Khelo India Dialogue – “Khel Ki Baat, PM Modi Ke Saath” on August 27 as part of the nationwide celebrations associated with National Sports Day 2026.
The programme is being organised under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, through Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), with the objective of strengthening youth participation in sports, promoting fitness and highlighting the role of sports in nation-building.
A major highlight of the programme will be the virtual address by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to youth participants across the country. The national-level interaction will connect young people from different parts of India on a common platform and provide them an opportunity to listen to the Prime Minister’s vision for youth, sports and a developed India.
Addressing the media during the pre-event press conference on Tuesday, Prof. (Dr.) Ashok Puranik, Executive Director, AIIMS Guwahati, emphasised that India’s youth constitute a powerful force for nation-building. He highlighted the importance of engaging and empowering young people through sports, physical activity, discipline, teamwork and healthy lifestyles.
Prof. Puranik informed that the programme will include live telecasting of the national event, followed by an interaction between MY Bharat volunteers and local sportspersons. The discussion will focus on the transformation of India’s sports infrastructure and the growth of the country’s sports ecosystem over the past 12 years.
The programme will culminate in a Yuva Samvaad, providing young participants an opportunity to share their ideas, perspectives, suggestions and aspirations for the future of Indian sports and Viksit Bharat.
The event is expected to bring together youth, students, sportspersons, faculty members, public representatives and other distinguished guests, reinforcing the message that a fit, healthy, confident and empowered youth population is central to nation-building.
