Two Bangladeshi nationals were detained by personnel of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at the new terminal of Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati on Wednesday, July 1, before they could board a flight to Mumbai.
The detained individuals have been identified as Rana Molla and Mafuja Akhtar Lima, both residents of Bangladesh.
According to officials, the duo came under suspicion during the pre-boarding security screening. A subsequent search allegedly led to the recovery of forged Indian Aadhaar cards along with several other documents from their possession.
Following the detention, CISF officials handed the two over to Azara Police for further legal action and investigation. Police are probing the alleged use of forged identity documents, the purpose of their stay in India, and their travel plans.
Investigators are also trying to determine how the accused obtained the forged documents and whether they are part of a wider network involved in illegal cross-border infiltration and the preparation of fake identity documents.
The incident follows another recent case at the Guwahati airport, where a Bangladeshi woman was detained by CISF personnel after she allegedly travelled to the city to meet her boyfriend. Authorities are continuing their investigation into both cases.
