Smuggler injured in firing by BSF on India-Bangladesh border

A person was injured in firing by BSF's 62nd Battalion while smuggling cattle through the Kaljani River in Madhya Balabhut on the Indo-Bangladesh border. The incident took place early on Saturday morning in the Tufanganj-1 Block Madhya Balabhut area.According to BSF sources, the name of the injured person is Saidul Islam, aged 45 years. The arrested trafficker is a resident of the Dhubri district of Assam. It is also reported that a total of three cows were recovered before the smuggling. West Bengal CID summons BJP leader in coal smuggling case

West Bengal BJP leader Jitendra Tiwari has been summoned to appear before the state CID for an investigation into the coal smuggling case, officials said on Thursday. The CID on Friday asked Mr Tiwari to appear before its officers in the city for questioning in the coal smuggling case. Mr Tiwari, who is a former Trinamool Congress mayor of Asansol and joined the BJP ahead of the 2021 West Bengal assembly elections, confirmed receiving the notice.
