Sony India has introduced the FX5, a new full-frame camera in its Cinema Line series, featuring internal RAW recording, Open Gate shooting and advanced image processing capabilities aimed at professional filmmakers and video creators.
Launched on November 2, 2026, the camera features a newly developed fully stacked Exmor RS CMOS image sensor and BIONZ XR2 image processing engine with a dedicated AI processing unit. It offers more than 15 stops of dynamic range, three base ISO settings of 800, 4000 and 12800, and Dual Gain Shooting technology for improved image quality and reduced noise.
For the first time in Sony’s FX series, the FX5 supports Open Gate shooting and in-camera recording in Sony’s proprietary 16-bit X-OCN RAW format. It can record in 5K at up to 60 frames per second, 4K at 120fps and Full HD at 240fps.
The camera also features AI-powered autofocus, five-axis in-body image stabilisation, advanced subject tracking and a compact design for professional production environments.
Sony India has also introduced two optional accessories: a detachable OLED viewfinder and an XLR handle unit supporting up to 96kHz/32-bit float audio recording.
Mukesh Srivastava, Head of Imaging and Professional Solution Business at Sony India, said the FX5 was designed to meet the evolving requirements of modern filmmakers and provide greater creative flexibility.
The FX5, along with its optional accessories, is available from November 2 across Sony authorised retail outlets, Sony Camera Lounge, Alpha Flagship stores, Sony Centre, ShopatSC.com and major electronic stores across India.
