SBI General Insurance has launched a flood relief and recovery initiative in Assam in partnership with The Akshaya Patra Foundation and Ayang Trust, supporting affected families with hot meals and essential relief supplies. The Akshaya Patra Foundation has facilitated the distribution of fresh, hygienic and nutritious hot meals in Jorhat district, providing immediate food assistance to flood-affected families, including vulnerable groups such as children, women, elderly people, farmers and daily-wage earners.
Meanwhile, in collaboration with Ayang Trust, SBI General Insurance is supporting the distribution of relief kits to 1,000 households across Jorhat, Sivasagar and Charaideo. The distribution will cover 300 households in Jorhat, 400 in Sivasagar and 300 in Charaideo, reaching around 4,000 people. The kits, prepared in coordination with district administrations, contain bed sheets, blankets, buckets with mugs, sanitary pads and essential utensils. In Jorhat, the initiative comes as flood-affected households face disruption to livelihoods, household needs and access to basic necessities. The combined food and relief support could provide immediate assistance to families and help ease some of the economic and social pressure caused by the floods in the district.
