The Gokula Education Foundation (Medical) has launched the Ramaiah Institute of Science and Management (RISM), a new deemed-to-be university in Bengaluru focused on STEM and management education with strong emphasis on artificial intelligence, aerospace studies and industry-ready skills. The institution has been launched in partnership with the University at Albany and will begin its first academic session in August 2026.
RISM will offer undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes in engineering, business and science streams. Initial courses will include B.Tech programmes in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, Aerospace Engineering and Electrical Sciences, along with BBA and MBA programmes. According to the foundation, the university’s curriculum has been designed with industry and academic partners to combine classroom learning with internships, live projects and industry-sponsored Centres of Excellence. The institution will also introduce a “Professors of Practice” model, bringing senior industry leaders into formal teaching roles.
Speaking on the launch, Gurucharan Gollerkeri, Executive Director and Chief Strategy Officer of the Gokula Education Foundation (Medical), said the university aims to prepare students for a rapidly changing global environment by integrating technology, business and applied learning. University at Albany President Havidán Rodríguez said the partnership would strengthen education and research in fields such as computer science, engineering, business and nanotechnology. RISM’s main residential campus is being developed near Devanahalli in Bengaluru’s Information Technology Investment Region, close to major industrial hubs including the Aerospace Park and upcoming Foxconn facility. Academic operations will initially begin from a transit campus in Yelahanka.
