In line with the birth anniversary of legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand, as per the direction of the Deputy Inspector General of the Guwahati Sector of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), a three-day-long sports competition which began on August 28 at the headquarters of the 175 CRPF Battalion at Rani on the western outskirts of Guwahati, concluded today.
The three-day sports competition, organized under the guidance of Commandant of the 175th Battalion, Nanda Kishore Kumar Prasad, featured various team and individual games including football, volleyball, table tennis and others. Along with many officers and jawans of the battalion, many young players from the surrounding areas also participated enthusiastically in the competitions.
Today’s closing ceremony was attended by Commandant Nanda Kishore Kumar Prasad, Second-in-Command Amit Sinha, Deputy Commandants Birat Kumar Singh and Amit Joshi, Senior Medical Officer Dr. Ajay Kumar and several other officers.
It may be noted that today, the birth anniversary of hockey player Major Dhyan Chand is being celebrated with great enthusiasm across the country as National Sports Day.
