Nayara Energy Boosts Rural Fuel Access as Network Surpasses 7,000 Outlets

Nayara Energy, backed by Russia’s Rosneft, has expanded its retail presence in India by crossing the milestone of 7,000 petrol pumps, strengthening its position as one of the country’s largest private fuel retailers. The company stated that it has added over 500 fuel outlets in the last 18 months, averaging nearly one new petrol pump per day, as part of its continued nationwide expansion strategy.

The company’s growing network now spans major metropolitan cities, high-growth corridors, tier-2 towns, highways and rural regions, significantly improving fuel accessibility across diverse markets. Notably, nearly one-third of its outlets are located in rural and hinterland areas, where fuel infrastructure development remains limited, thereby supporting mobility and economic activity in underserved regions.

Headquartered in Mumbai and formerly known as Essar Oil Limited, Nayara Energy operates a 20 million tonnes per annum refinery at Vadinar in Gujarat. The facility contributes approximately 8 per cent of India’s total refining output, making it a key player in the country’s energy sector.

The company has also emphasized its retail strategy focused on consistent fuel quality, standardized operations and enhanced customer service. In addition, it has invested in modern forecourt designs and convenience-oriented facilities aimed at improving the overall consumer experience at its outlets.

With its expanding footprint and continued infrastructure investments, Nayara Energy aims to further strengthen its presence in India’s dynamic fuel retail market while improving access to reliable energy supplies across both urban and rural regions.
