Medanta, in association with women’s empowerment organisation Aparupa, organised a Women’s Health Talk in Guwahati on Saturday to encourage women to prioritise preventive healthcare, recognise early warning signs and participate actively in medical decisions.
Dr Amita Jain, Associate Director, Urogynaecology at Medanta Gurugram, highlighted how women often overlook their health while caring for their families. She stressed the importance of routine screenings, recognising persistent symptoms and shifting from reactive to preventive care.
The session, launched by renowned writer, filmmaker and social activist Runa Laila, founder of Aparupa, also emphasised self-advocacy, preparation for medical consultations and the role of balanced nutrition, exercise, adequate sleep and stress management. Dr Malabika Bhagawati, Senior Consultant, Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Medanta Mediclinic Guwahati, and Dr Ananya Deori, Associate Consultant, Breast Services at Medanta Gurugram, were also present.
In Guwahati, the initiative highlights the growing importance of accessible specialist healthcare and preventive health awareness in the city and surrounding areas. Medanta said residents can consult Dr Bhagawati at its Mediclinic on Beltola–Basistha Road, Dispur.
The hospital network has also launched a dedicated North East helpline, 8904395588, available from 8 am to 8 pm in Assamese, Bengali, Nagamese, English and Hindi, to assist with doctor selection and appointments.
