Kolkata students have brought laurels to the city by securing top international ranks in the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) Examinations for the academic year 2025–26. The Olympiad saw participation from millions of students across 72 countries, including more than one lakh students from Kolkata. Among the top achievers, Sabyasachi Laskar of Class 12 from B.D.M. International (CBSE) secured Rank 1 and won a Gold Medal in the National Science Olympiad (NSO). Rajnandini Chatterjee of Class 12 from G.D. Birla Centre for Education also secured Rank 1 and received a Gold Medal in the International English Olympiad (IEO). Samara Sinha of Class 5 from Delhi Public School Megacity secured Rank 3 and won a Bronze Medal in the NSO. All awardees also received Certificates of Outstanding Performance.
The students attended the 28th SOF International Annual Award Ceremony at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi, where they were felicitated in the presence of Supreme Court Judge Justice Vijay Bishnoi. Other dignitaries included Prof. Y.S. Rajan, CBSE Secretary Himanshu Gupta, and Dr. Praveen Gupta.
SOF Founder and Director Mahabir Singh congratulated the students, parents, and schools, stating that the achievements reflected dedication, perseverance, and strong academic support. He added that the Olympiads continue to encourage critical thinking and academic excellence among students worldwide.
