HPCL expands access to clean fuel with Free Trade LPG Cylinders, targets mobile workforce

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) is scaling up access to clean cooking fuel through its Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinder initiative, aimed at supporting migrant workers, small businesses, and low-income households across India. Between April 1 and 17, 2026, HPCL supplied over 4.65 lakh 5 kg cylinders and more than 22,700 2 kg cylinders, indicating rising demand for smaller, portable fuel solutions in urban and semi-urban areas.

Unlike traditional LPG connections, FTL cylinders offer flexibility, lower upfront costs, and ease of use—making them suitable for street vendors, small eateries, and mobile families. The initiative is backed by HPCL’s robust distribution network, which delivered over 215 lakh LPG cylinders nationwide during the same period. HPCL’s digital push has also strengthened access, with 99.3% of bookings made online, enabling easy tracking and timely delivery.

To ensure supply integrity, the company conducted 5,400 inspections between March 14 and April 17, taking action against 131 distributors and seizing 3,674 cylinders. With over 1.32 lakh fuel tankers dispatched, HPCL said LPG supply remains stable, positioning Free Trade LPG as a key driver of inclusive and flexible energy access.
