Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has delivered more than 263 lakh LPG cylinders across India between April 1 and April 21, 2026, amid a sharp rise in demand, driven by the coordinated efforts of its dealers, distributors and delivery personnel working extended hours to maintain uninterrupted household supplies. The company said distributors have been operating near round-the-clock cycles to manage bookings, replenish stocks from bottling plants and maintain supply in high-demand areas. Delivery personnel have also been covering longer distances and handling increased workloads across congested urban centres and remote locations to ensure timely doorstep deliveries.
HPCL said changing consumption patterns have further pushed demand, with the company supplying over 5.57 lakh Free Trade LPG cylinders of 5 kg and more than 24,500 cylinders of 2 kg during the period, catering to migrant workers, small vendors and households seeking portable energy solutions. The company noted that 99.2 per cent of LPG bookings are now made through digital platforms, helping distributors optimise delivery routes and improve turnaround times. During the same period, over 1,61,729 fuel tankers were dispatched to maintain uninterrupted replenishment across distribution points.
In Guwahati, LPG distributors in the city and adjoining areas have witnessed steady demand growth, particularly from urban households and small food businesses. Industry observers said the increased use of smaller LPG cylinders among migrant workers and roadside vendors in Guwahati has also contributed to rising consumption patterns across Assam’s urban markets. HPCL said it conducted 5,675 inspections between March 14 and April 21, taking action against 155 distributors, including 33 suspensions. The company also carried out 662 raids, registered 42 FIRs and seized 3,700 LPG cylinders as part of its vigilance drive to strengthen supply chain integrity.
