An incident of fire was reported from DS Colony under Ward No. 34 of the Siliguri where a house was completely brought down to ashes. As per reports, on Monday night at around 2 a.m., a fire broke out at the residence owned by Pramila Paswan in the said area. Upon noticing the inferno, the inmates rushed outside and somehow managed to take out the gas cylinder. However, every other household item was gutted. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on June 6 said at least 31 passengers from her state are still missing five days after the devastating triple train accident at Bahanaga Bazar railway station in Odisha's Balasore district. Ms Banerjee, who landed in Cuttack to review the condition of the injured passengers, said the bodies of 103 passengers from West Bengal had been identified and 86 of them had reached their destination. In West Bengal, around 200 injured persons were under treatment, she said. Odisha officials declined to comment on Ms Banerjee's statement about the 31 missing passengers.

CBI raids several locations in Bengal linked with job scam in civic body recruitment irregularities

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted raids on Wednesday at several locations in West Bengal linked to allegations of recruitment irregularities in civic bodies. The drive targeted 14 municipalities, including Dakshin Dum, Panihati, Kanchrapara, Chinsura, and Dum Dum. The CBI teams also searched the office of the state urban development department in the Salt Lake area, an official said. A worker was seriously injured when a bomb exploded while digging a pond in the land. The incident took place in Dinhata's Vetaguri South Baladanga area.
