Assam CM replies to allegation made by opposition

On Wednesday, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma speaks on the allegation of communal target made by the opposition party against child marriage crackdown in Assam. The Chief Minister informed that equal number of Hindus and Muslim were arrested in the state during the child marriage crackdown. He said it was done even though child marriages are “more prevalent in Muslim-majority areas”, and put the ratio of Muslims to Hindus among those arrested at 55:45. Although, highest number of child marriages were found in Dhubri and South Salmara districts – where Muslims are in majority, the CM added too.

The Very Short Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS) missile underwent two consecutively successful flight tests at the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur, off the coast of Odisha

In order to simulate approaching and departing aircraft, the flight tests were conducted from a ground-based man-portable launcher against swift unmanned aerial targets. All mission goals were achieved by effectively intercepting the targets. The VSHORADS Man Portable Air Defence System (MANPAD) is designed to eliminate close-range, low-altitude aerial threats.

Over the Black Sea, a US MQ-9 Reaper drone and a Russian jet collided, according to reports

According to AFP and a US European commander, a US-made MQ-9 Reaper Drone was shot down over the Black Sea on Tuesday. The incident has been denounced by the US military as "unsafe." According to USAF General James Hecker, "Our MQ-9 aircraft was conducting routine operations in international airspace when it was intercepted and attacked by a Russian aircraft, leading to a crash and full loss of the MQ-9." Former J&K governor Satyapal Malik declared “fear for his safety” when the Center cancelled his Z-plus security cover

Assam economy leading to worsen

Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi also leader of Raijor Dal alleges present government of the state, Assam to face worst economy in future. The MLA alleged that the Center had stopped sanctioning loans to the state government due to the subsequent latter’s debt size. “As of November 2022, the Assam government owes a total of Rs 1,27,073 crore. The total debt as of 2016 was Rs 41,946 crore. Our state is not far from experiencing an economic catastrophe like to the one currently affecting Sri Lanka,” the MLA said.

School Principal arrested for question paper leak

On Tuesday, three more persons arrested connected to HSLC question paper leak. The previews day after CID investigation 22 persons were arrested now adding 3 more. As per reports, including a school Principal and other persons, mostly students were detained by the Police. Assam Police said that all three arrested are from Government BDS Deaf and Dumb school in Kahilipara, Guwahati. Reports also says that the detained students were sharing the handwritten question paper in Whatsapp and mostly the students were from XI and XII along with some class X, metric candidates.

Assam CM raise border dispute case

Assam and Meghalaya both the states were facing border disputes since few months. People of both states were into clashes resulting death of five villagers and a forest guard. On Monday, the Assam government informed the assembly that Mukroh village is part of the state’s territory and lies in West Karbi Anglong district. Along with it CM Himanta Biswa Sarma tabled a list of seven clashes and disputes between the neighboring states on the West Karbi Anglong border since 2021.
