Assam, Water department helds meeting to control flood

On Friday, a meeting was held to prevent flood situations in Assam in the presence of Water Resources Minister Pijush Hazarika and other engineers of the water resources department. The focus of the meeting was prevent Assam from flood situations, repair 41 damaged sites and focus on the ongoing construction of ring bunds, sluice gates and other structures. Water Resources Minister Pijush also announced no permanent work of the water resource department would be carried out from May 15 to October, only temporary works will be carried out.

Agreement between Assam Government and DNLA militant outfit

No invitation for AIUDF in Opposition meeting hosted by Congress

Evaluation results of Assam declared

‘Gunotsav 2023’ which took place from January 18 to February 18 results were released on Monday by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The evaluation scheme covered 44,531 schools and 41,35,163 (96.69 per cent) students in all 31 districts, Assam. However, the exercise has shown improvement this year compared to 2022, with the number of schools placed in the highest A+ grade category increasing and those in the lowest category going down. Family dispute results to death, Assam

On Wednesday, a shocking incident took place here against an elderly man in dhubri district, Assam. The actual incident took place on Tuesday, according to the sources. A senior Police officer reported that, an elderly man was killed by his own sons due to family dispute. The deceased identified as Sopiyal Ali from Saslapura village. After the incident the accused trio fled away, now the police of the district launched a manhunt to nab the accused persons.

‘Waris Punjab De’ member Amritpal along his other associates kept under tight security in Assam

On Sunday, Amritpal Singh was brought to Dibrugarh, Assam and currently he is taken to Central Jail. According to the sources, he was brought to Assam in a special flight from Bathinda. Earlier, Amritpal was arrested by Punjab police from Rode village in the northern state and now he is brought to Assam and kept under tight security. Nine of his associates are presently lodged at Dibrugarh Central Jail adding Amritpal Singh now. Siksha Setu Asom Portal App launched in Assam

Assam may again face thunderstorm; yellow alert

According to recent updates, Tinsukia district of Assam has been facing heavy hailstorm and thunderstorm, affecting people’s lives and houses, facing power cuts due to falling of trees and many more. On Sunday, Met department warned of thunderstorm with lightning and gusty winds in Assam and its neighboring areas over the next two days. Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has issued ‘yellow’ category warning to Assam and its neighboring states.
