AFSPA likely to be lifted from Assam by November

Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) is activated in Assam. As Assam Anti-Corruption wing are in an operation since last few months to end corruption in the state. Many govt. officials are caught red handed accepting bribe from the needy. Now, Minakshi Kakoti Kalita, an Assistant Commissioner of State Tax, was caught red handed in a trap laid by officers of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption worth more than Rs. 65 lakhs was recovered. Assam Govt inks MoU to connect 7 religious places on Brahmaputra
