12 lakh people affected this year in flood situation

Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Jogen Mohan has updated as per available data about the flood affected people and area of the state, Assam. According to the reports, over 12, 95, 642 people have been affected by the flood hazard, along with, more than 23,000 houses in 3,335 villages in 109 revenue circles in the state. The minister also updated 1,106 roads have been damaged under the public works department, with 101 bridges. It has also killed 16,663 animals, adding Rs 137.2 crore has been sanctioned towards gratuitous relief and Rs 25 lakh towards rehabilitation grant.

Manipur violence: Assam Rifles biased force demands for withdraw of the troops

Recently, representatives of Meitei community met Defense Minister Rajnath Singh asking for removal of the Assam Rifles from the violence hit state, Manipur. Child marriage operation begins in the state, 5 arrested

On Thursday, 15 people from Hailakandi district were arrested allegedly for preparing fake documents to conduct child marriage. As per reports, the news came into light after an operation was launched in different parts of the district for conducting child marriages. The arrested one are identified as Panchgram, Katlicherra, Algapur, Lala, Ramnathpur and Bilaipur areas of the district, Hailankandi. AFSPA to be completely withdrawn by October, confirms Assam CM

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma as earlier promised to remove Armed Force Special Power Act (AFSPA) from the state, Assam completely.
