Age old market run by women in Manipur tableau for R Day

India celebrated Republic Day on 26 January, 2024, state Manipur took part and to showcase the featuring iconic Ima Keithel, affectionately known as the “Mother’s Market.” About Ima Keithel, a 500-year-old market that is fully managed by women, which stands for "Nari Shakti". The tableau displayed resilience of women in commerce carring age old process of spinning wheels, lotus which are transformed to fine fibre.

Assam-Mizoram to solve old border disputes to maintain peace

Mizoram newly reconstituted boundary committee, Home Minister K Sapdanga has expressed his desire about resuming boundary talks with Assam, old border dispute on Thursday. According to the sources, the border dispute talks were closed due to Assam assembly polls in November. The Minister told his committee about solving the border dispute as he cares for his people's protection and safety, especially those living in border areas.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced to play alone for this year, 2024 Lok sabha election. Guwahati getting ready for Republic day

Assam CM orders police action against Rahul Gandhi for alleged provocation

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi along with his party members are on 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' which has begun from Northeast of India, Manipur. The members has yesterday began their yatra in Guwahati, Assam following tension in the city, traffic rules were modified for the day. According to the reports, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has filed a case against Rahul Gandhi for allegedly provoking the citizens during the yatra. Taking to Twitter, he stated, "These are not part of Assamese culture. We are a peaceful state. Such 'naxalite tactics' are completely alien to our culture" with footage as evidence.

Assam Cabinet ministers to visit Ram Mandir on Feb 22

The newly built Ram Mandir of Ayodhya, its auspicious Pran Pratishtha took place on 22 January which was done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Following the consecration ceremony in Ayodhya of 22 Jan, lakhs of devotees, celebrities, sports men and many visited the temple and welcomed Lord Rama to his birth place. Assam Cabinet ministers expressed their gratitude and extended greetings to the devotees of the nation. However, the ministers has decided to visit the mandir on February 22 for darshan of Lord Ram.

Rahul Gandhi resumes yatra in Guwahati, Assam

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi who started his yatra from Manipur was folded by the public in Guwahati, Assam. To reports, the party members resumed their from 9 am to be continued till 4 pm on Tuesday. However, Assam police has urged people to not make the situation chaotic as there will be changes of traffic rules on National Highway no. 27 ahead of 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ through the city from Jorabat-Khanapara-Basistha Chariali-Lokhra-Garchuk-Jalukbari.

Assam govt to introduce anti-cheating bill in upcoming budget session

Assam Cabinet ministers will be introducing a new bill in the upcoming budget session of the Assam Legislative assembly. According to the reports, the new bill is related to public examination which is to curb the use of unfair practices like cheating. The Cabinet said, "The Assam Public Examination (Measures for Prevention of Unfair Means in Recruitment) Bill, 2024’ will be introduced, aiming to prevent leakage of question papers and cheating during the exam." Further, the session is to take place on February 5, 2025.

According to the reports, the student is identified as Saiyam Mazumdar who is from Guwahati, Assam. He is a professional snake rescuer and wildlife conservationist and also a dog rescuer.
