Amit Shah to end flood situation in Assam

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has asked the Assam government to come up with a long-term plan to protect the northeastern state from floods so that further development can take place. "Wetlands need to be revitalized to increase water holding capacity and they can also act as reservoirs during floods," said Amit Shah. Three to four waves ravage Assam almost every year. According to a state government website, the average annual loss due to disasters is Rs 200 crore.

Classes 5 and 8 examinations in all state-run schools, Assam

The state government will conduct the examination for class 5 and 8 students in all state-run schools. The decision was taken by the Assam Cabinet on Friday. According to the decision, if a student fails the annual examination, a special examination will be held for the failed students within two months. In such cases, the teachers of the institution will take special care of the students so that they pass the examination, however, if the student still fails the said examination, he/she will have to appear again in the same class.

MBBS seats increased for different communities in Assam

The Assam Cabinet has decided to increase the number of seats reserved for each of the six communities claiming Scheduled Tribe status in medical education by two.
