A seismic safety awareness programme organised by NeFocus in collaboration with RVC was held at the NEDFi Auditorium on Saturday, highlighting the need for collective action to reduce earthquake risks in Northeast India. The conclave brought together geoscientists, subject experts, students, researchers and government officials to deliberate on effective earthquake preparedness and management strategies. Gaikungam Rongmei, Director of the Earthquake Division at the Geological Survey of India, spoke about the region’s high seismic vulnerability and emphasised the importance of coordinated efforts to address the risks.
