A sophisticated cyber fraud involving a fictitious "digital arrest" has cost a 63-year-old senior doctor from Jorhat Rs 49 lakh. Dr. Sadagar Deuri of Jorhat Medical College and Hospital, the victim, has filed an urgent complaint with the Jorhat Superintendent of Police, requesting the filing of a formal report and prompt inquiry. The complaint claims that cybercriminals posing as law enforcement officers continuously monitored Dr. Deuri via video calls and put him under tremendous mental strain.
