AMCH Dibrugarh named First Rare Disease Center of Excellence in Northeast India

In accordance with the National Policy for Rare Diseases (NPRD), 2021, the Government of India has made Assam Medical College & Hospital (AMCH), Dibrugarh, a Center of Excellence (CoE) for Rare Diseases. In a formal statement released on Tuesday, the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (Rare Disease Cell) approved AMCH's inclusion as one of the top government tertiary institutions with resources for rare disease diagnosis, prevention, and treatment. The Lions Club and Marwari Yuva Manch are holding a free eye exam in Tezpur

The Dolabari Gaon Panchayat Office in Tezpur hosted a free eye screening and cataract detection camp. The Lions Club of Tezpur Greater actively supported the project, and the Dolabari Gaon Panchayat cooperated with the Marwari Yuva Manch Tezpur Jagriti Branch and Akhil Bharatiya Marwari Mahila Sammelan, Tezpur. In collaboration with Gauhati Lions Eye Hospital, the camp was organized. Over the course of the camp, 128 people had eye exams, and 37 incidences of cataracts were found.
