The Centre will establish a new urea plant at Namrup in Assam at a cost of Rs 10,000 crore and will be built in three-and-half years creating as many as 1,950 direct and indirect employment opportunities, Rajat Kumar Mishra, Secretary, Department of Fertilizers said on Thursday. The Indian government has proposed investing Rs. 10,000 crore to establish a new urea plant at Namrup, Assam. About 1,950 direct and indirect jobs would be created throughout the three-and-a-half-year project, according to Department of Fertilizers Secretary Rajat Kumar Mishra. In her 2025–2026 Budget Address, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman mentioned the Namrup urea plant's commissioning.
